Omawumi’s Eyes On Continental Dominance With Play Na Play

WUMIWith great plans to release an album that marries creative artistry and Pan-African branding particularly with her newest single titled, Play Na Play, singer Omawumi has set out to reclaim her place in the music scene and in the hearts of music lovers after a year off from dropping her last work.
Weekend Beat gathered that the singer has already concluded the recording of her live album, which has her breathing core aspects of African performing arts and melodies into the a record. The entire project as learned was recorded live in collaborations with veterans and two of Africa’s greatest acts alive as well as Grammy award-winning artiste, Angelique Kidjo, and Senegalese Grammy nominated act, Salif Keita among others yet to be announced on the international collaborations.
Known for her Afrocentric style, Omawumi in the new hit with a stylistic traditional African set complemented with black men dressed in native costumes, beating drums, illuminating fires and body markings, takes her game a step above the Nigerian market, aiming for continental dominance via imagery and collaboration. The song is the perfect Afro-soul fusion with lush drum patterns, rattles and two languages fused together.
With Angelique Kidjo featuring on song and appearance in video, it is believed that Omawumi no doubt is set for a ‘Grammy’ as the song brings to fore the endorsement of quality and artistic symphony that she desired when the collaboration was conceived.
