PennWell partners institutes on youth empowerment in oil sector


EmpowermentPennWell has announced a new strategic partnership between the Niger Delta Science, Technology and Bio-Industrial Development on the youth empowerment programme of Offshore West Africa (OWA) 2016.
This strategic partnership, according to OWA is a three-year agreement and it holds under the auspices of the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Science and Technology.
Working in conjunction with The Energy Institute’s Young Professionals Network (YPN) and Lonadek, the youth empowerment programme (YEP) will take place on the 26th-28th January 2016.
“The youth empowerment programme is a key Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of PennWell; it is an integral part of the Offshore West Africa 2016 schedule and is available (by invitation) to 300 youths /students within the sub-region.
“Participating undergraduate students from will undergo the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme and also receive complimentary membership of the Energy Institute through its Young Professionals Network. PennWell is delighted to welcome the Niger Delta Science, Technology and Bio-Industrial Development (NDSTB) as well as the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology (FMST) on board as partners on the Offshore West Africa 20th Anniversary event and beyond,” it stated.
As part of this strategic alliance, the Niger Delta Science, Technology and Bio-Industrial Development (NDSTB) will support the YEP event during the Offshore West Africa Conference for three consecutive years starting with the 20th Anniversary event in January 2016. The Federal Ministry of Science and Technology and the NDSTB also plan to host an event tagged ‘The OWA-FMST/NDSTB National Science and Technology Week (NASTECH) in March 2016 which will be supported by PennWell.
The Niger Delta Science, Technology and Bio-Industrial Development was concessioned by the Regional Centre for Bio-enterprise Development (RCBD), a creation of the Federal Government as a sub-set of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN). The emphasis for developing RCBD was approved by government as a way of promoting the bio-industrial base of the Niger Delta communities in general industrial resource areas.
Taking place on 26-28 January 2016 at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos, Nigeria, Offshore West Africa will build on the success of the 2015 event, which also took place in Lagos.
