The Guest Lecturer at the event, Director, Technical and Vocational Services, Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board (LASTVEB), Olaoluwa Oguntuyi, in his lecture titled: ‘Impact of Vocational Education in the Development of Economy in Lagos,’ described vocational education as the panacea to growing unemployment in the country, where youth can be empowered with different vocational skills that would enable them earn their daily living.
While disclosing that the vocational institute was opened to all without prejudice to age, educational qualification or tribe, he said:
“Vocational education reduces poverty, makes people to be self reliant and promotes entrepreneurship, which is deeply embedded in the Institute’s curriculum.
“There is hope for those, who graduate from this Institute, not to remain idle any longer, some of whom could be engaged in the on-going construction of Lekki Free Trade Zone.
“We are also looking forward to seeing those who acquired skills at this Centre contributing their quota to the development of Lagos State.”
