How I Make Money With ShoutMeLoud

How I Make Money With ShoutMeLoud

IN Make Money online
Choose Best Affiliate Product
When I started ShoutMeLoud in 2008, I never thought I could reach a point where blogging would become my primary source of income. In fact, like many others I also thought online money was a scam.
I was a graduate guy holding a B.tech degree in I.T and looking forward to joining Accenture in 2009. I started blogging as a part time hobby and later on I got to know about AdSense and affiliate marketing. You can learn more about how I started on my blogging journey page.
In the last couple of months, I have been publishing monthly income reports, just to make people aware of the immense amount of money lying in the field of blogging. I make almost 8000-9000$ per month from all the blogs in my network. One of the most common email queries I get is how ShoutMeLoud makes money.
I thought of putting everything on one page, so that people could learn something from it and implement the monetization part, which they are comfortable with. My suggestion is, instead of jumping into all of them, explore every ad network and every method that I mentioned one by one.
Just to let you know, it took me 6 years to reach at the stage where I’m in. Everything I learned comes from my experience; I made mistakes and learned from them. So, don’t just jump on the wagon of getting rich quickly; rather understand every system individually.
I last updated this article in (January 2015), and at the time of writing, I was running 8 blogs actively under the ShoutDreams banner, and a few services which still needed time and attention from me.
Right now, ShoutMeLoud have a total team-member of 3 people. Every blog is monetized with different mothod.

My monetization technique for ShoutMeLoud

Affiliate Marketing:
Dreamhost Affiliate Check
One are of maximum potential for making money via a niche blog is by affiliate marketing. In simple words, you recommend a genuine product on your blog, and when people sign up via your affiliate link, you will make a handsome money out of it.
Affiliate marketing is something whose income is never decided, and you can’t be sure how much you will make with this. I’m earning about $4200/month from affiliate marketing.
I have covered these following posts in the past, which will help you to get started, and I’m also listing some of the products that I’m affiliated with.
At this moment, Google AdSense is making around 600$ every month, and it is such a relief to have recurring income from your blog. If you have a blog with decent traffic, you can make good money with Google AdSense.
In fact, if you are a newbie and looking forward to starting a blog with the intention of just making money, AdSense should be one of your priority. Because, it give you a sense of comfort, and once Adsense starts making $10-20 daily, you can start exploring the other monetization opportunities.

BuySellAds is an advertisement network that helps you to sell ads directly. They work as a middle man, and they keep a percentage (25%) of the money you make by selling ads. I like this system because I don’t need to interact with advertisers directly, and I can cash-out money twice a month.
It’s a popular network for advertisers and publishers, if you have a nice specific blog, you can use BuySellAds to sell all your entire unsold ad inventory. If you are completely new to BuySellads, here are a couple of posts that will help you to get started.
Update: I’m no longer using BuySellAds, but it’s still recommended network for bloggers. I have removed it in 2014 starting, as I got few direct advertisements.
Direct ad sales:
As I mentioned above, I have 8+ blogs running at this moment and many advertisers contact me directly using a contact form for advertisement opportunities. This is the hectic because you have to give details to advertisers and a payment method.
If you are getting a direct advertisement, it’s good because you are saving money by eliminating the middle man. These direct advertisement sales are making me almost $1500 per month.
The key to getting direct advertisements is by adding an advertisement page on your blog and giving all the necessary details like ad spaces available, ad placement, traffic details and a marketing pitch in the form of what your advertisers can expect. You can see one such example on the ShoutMeLoud advertisement page.
Infolinks is an In-text advertising program. I was not running it on ShoutMeLoud but added it on few other sutes. It’s making me almost 50$ per month. If you are not into affiliate marketing, you can start with Infolinks here. Recently, I tried Vigilink, which turns out to be a decent platform and in some cases better than Infolinks.
Sponsored reviews:
Somehow I’m not very fond of sponsored reviews, but I keep getting lots of emails for paid reviews. I check the software or product myself and after that I approve it for review. If the product or service is free, I do the review for free. Otherwise I charge nominally depending upon how much a single license of that software or product would cost.
From paid reviews, I make about $900 per month. Alternatively, you can always ask for a premium product for free testing, and you can write a review and put on your affiliate link, which will make more money, in the long run.
BlogSpot to WordPress Migration Service:
I have been offering BlogSpot to WordPress services for a long time and have a long list of happy clients who are on WordPress now. One of the unique features that I offer with my service is complementary SEO service. This service makes almost $500-$800 per month. Read more about BlogSpot to WordPress migration service.
Blog Consultancy program:
This is one service that I started last year, and within it’s launch I started getting clients for personal consultancy. In this coaching, I teach about SEO, how to blog for profit, blog marketing plan, Social media plans and in short everything which I have learned from my 4 years of blogging experience. I have been getting good reactions from all the students I have mentored till now and you can learn about it on my blog consultancy page. I target 15 hour of personal coaching in a month and charge $249 per hr for now.
In between, I offered a few more services like WordPress SEO and WordPress theme development, but with time I retired them to bring something better, as the service sector requires a great deal of time, and time is always an issue for a professional blogger. I realized, instead of offering those 20-30$/hr of service, I could make the most out of time via blogging consultancy.
Well, these are just a few of the ways I use for blog monetization, and there are many more ad networks that I keep trying on my blog network. I keep playing with latest monetziation methods to make most out of my online journey. I will keep updating this page with latest ways, make sure you are subscribes to the ShoutMeLoud Email newsletter for updates.
I’m sure this will help those who are missing ways to make huge money from blogging. Do share your story, How are you making money from blogging?

Paypal Scammed Indian Paypal users With Reversed Transaction fees

We were already talking about Paypal issues from last few days and in case if you missed it, you can read them :
Though finally everything is coming back to line and paypal is restoring money which was on hold for bank withdrawal.
Today almost 1000$ which I requested for withdrawal on 27Th January, is refunded back into my paypal account and I can see them in my account. But I’m very much disappointed with how Paypal is scamming people with this refund fees.
You can see here in the above picture that I transferred 1,050$ from Paypal account to my bank account and due to paypal issues with RBI in India, they put this transfer on hold and today they reverted back that amount into my paypal account.
The thing here is in return of my 1050$ they reverted back only 965$. That means there is no accountability of remaining 85$ in this transaction.
Here is another picture of my other transaction which is also reverted back and see the amount difference :
So in few days I lost almost 130$+ without doing anything wrong. And this is not only me but also other users are facing the same issue.
Here is one of the pic shared by Mayur, who is also scammed by Paypal the same way :
Though paypal will surely put this thing on conversion rate and other thing, though its  a white mask scam. This is just the case of 2 users which is mentioned above, and there are many others who also lost their hard earned money this way.
I will appreciate an official comment from paypal member who can give us better clarification on this issue.
If you are a paypal India user, I’m sure even you must have something to share with us. Do let us know if you lost something in this whole scam or you were the lucky one.

facebook login problem

Various Facebook login problem

Like all other websites and social networking sites, there are many Facebook login problems. These problems may be incorrect password or email address etc.
I have mentioned two most common facebook problems:-
Incorrect Email address or Passwords
It occurs when then password or email address typed by you has some typo or spelling errors. Delete the email address and type it again because may be due to spelling error Facebook has failed to detect it. Before entering passwords always make sure that caps lock is always turned off. As it is case-sensitive on entering passwords with on caps will be rejected by the facebook and you will be redirected back to the incorrect email address or password page again. For any Facebook login username and password related issue check this official page.
Facebook Email address not valid:
Many times when you try signing up for Facebook using your Google apps account mainly using admin, info or service, you won’t be able to sign up. Facebook doesn’t allow sign up with such generic name. You can create a Google apps address under your name name@domain.com and sign up for Facebook.
Facebook login Page is not loading
This is another one of the most common problem in which Facebook login page failed to load. In this case there should be a problem with your cookies. If you are facing this problem then do take reference of Facebook help section.
Facebook Phishing
Phising is growing as most terrible technique to grab passwords and emails. It deals with creating fake login pages and to steal email and passwords of the victim.

3 Reasons Why You Need Dedicated Twitter Profile for Blog

Twitter has become one of the best marketing tool.  The growth of twitter is enormous and many bloggers who have neglected twitter, are now getting inclined to twitter. Bloggers like me who have multiple blogs, or even with single blogs get confused between creating a separate profile for their blog or using their personal profile for blog updates. I always recommend creating a separate twitter profile for your blogs with the similar name. For example see the twitter profile for my WordPress blog @wpfreesetup.
Here are few reasons why you should create your Blog specific twitter profile :
Dedicated Twitter Profile
Branding :
Most of bloggers, big companies and infect individual are using Twitter. I wonder when was the last time I see a blog without any twitter icon on sidebar or around the post. Creating a domain specific twitter profile will help you in branding. Some people might not like your personal twitter profile for update like “Weather is amazing today” and Blah blah!! For information seeker, people your blog specific twitter profile will help them to get only useful updates.
Personal and professional Boundary
I use twitter for both professional and personal uses. On my personal profile @denharsh you will find my updating me about the comment on latest movie which I say, me moving to Pune to start a blogging company and so on. Obviously giving personal touch is good, but being personal all the time is bad. This is where a domain specific twitter profile will help to create a boundary. Bloggers and readers who can connect with you personally , they can follow you on your personal profile else those who are not interested in your daily gossips , they can connect with your domain specific twitter profile for regular updates.
Do read : Twitter for Marketing or Socializing
Information Seeker
As I mentioned above about the difference between personal and professional twitter profile. People who are following you for useful links, they will have a dedicated place from there they can grab the official blog updated. You can use any Feed to tweet service to automatically feed your blog specific twitter profile.
Meanwhile you can follow @shoutmeloud on twitter for official blog updates or if you like me talking , you can follow me on twitter @denharsh.
Do you have a blog specific twitter profile or you use your personal profile for your blog updates? What more points you can add to second my opinion for having blog specific twitter profile?

Top 20 Most Expensive Domain Names Ever Sold : 2015 List

Top 20 Most Expensive Domain Names Ever Sold : 2015 List

Website flipping is nothing new and we all know people create website and sell them to make money and you will be surprised to know that people also make money by domain flipping. Like Website flipping, domain flipping is different. In this case, you buy exclusive domain names like (Porn.com, Education.com, World.com) and sell them at highly price using services like Flippa or private sell.

Domain selling business is not as old as origin of websites.  Even I have sold and bought domains in past five years.  I have settled some deals also, but neither of those is as big to be mentioned here.  I however, wanted to know more about this business little closely and found some unbelievable deals from the past.
Most of the people, who are into this business, purchase domain names in anticipation that in future they will get good value for their investment.  They maintain a website with these domain names and wait for the opportunity which they can grab with both hands.  Though there is no surety of expected profit, but, then we invest in stocks and other commodities where return is not sure too.  At least here if you didn’t get your perfect deal, you can use domain name for your own website. I am making a list of 20 most expensive domain names ever sold up to 2015.
most expensive domain name
One thing which is common in this list of expensive domain names is the One word. Most of names are one word and are highly searched words with high CPC. Another thing to be noticed here is all are .com domains and we don’t see any single .org, .info listing, which again shows the importance of .com names.
I’m sure you will be surprised to see the list of top most expensive domain name here and the price. Sex is the keyword everywhere and this is true in the case of this list. Porn websites are the biggest seller.

Top 20 Most expensive domain names:

In this list most of the domains are related to porn, gambling and investment industry.  Tough giving an exact figure is difficult due to the mode of transaction and other constraints; still this list contains domains which are known to have accounts of.  Here is the list :-
VacationRentals.com – This deal took place in 2007 and the transaction was for $35 million. This is the highest ever deal made to purchase any domain.  Brain Sharples, the founder of HomeAway, is new owner of this domain and admitted that he purchased it, as he did not want his competitor Expedia to acquire it.
PrivateJet.com – This deal came very close to become the all time highest deal ever made for domain selling.  This transaction happened in 2012 at $ 30.18 million.
Insure.com – Insure.com’s deal happened in 2009 and happens to be the second highest deal of all time for three years, when PrivateJet.com broke this record.  Deal was made at $ 16 million.
Sex.com – Here comes the first deal from porn industry.  The deal was made for $ 14 million and happened in October of 2010.  This domain is doing very well, as it is linked with one of the most searched keyword on search engines.
Hotels.com – This domain was sold for $ 11 million in 2001, however, new owner of this domain couldn’t actually confirm at what price the domain has been purchased, in a TV interview to BBC.
Fund.com – It was purchased in the year 2008 at a whooping price of $ 9.9 million.  This domain is meant for a financial service, however, this domain is still not live.  I don’t know if owner is waiting to resell this domain in near future.
Porn.com – It is another entry from the porn industry.  No wonder why this website is doing so well and why new owner spent $ 9.5 million to acquire it in 2007.
Fb.com – Facebook purchased fb.com in November 2010 at a price of $ 8.5 million from American Farm Bureau Federation.  At present this domain is redirected to www.facebook.com, but hopefully Facebook will make good use of this domain and the money spent on purchasing it.
Business.com – This domain was sold for $ 7.5 million in December 1999.  Next entry in this list also worth the same amount spent on this deal, but it was made seven years after this one, therefore ranked below.
Diamond.com – This domain was acquired in 2006 at a price of $ 7.5 million.  This domain now is live as a diamond online shopping site.  It’s really not surprising why owner paid a huge amount for this site; after all he is using it so sell one of the most precious substances available in the world.
Beer.com – It was sold in 2004 at a price of $ 7 million.  This domain is featuring for resale on www.aftermarket.com.  God bless owner and may they be able to make good profit out of this domain.
Israel.com – Deal for this domain was done in 2008 at a price of $ 5.88 million.  However, there is not much information available for this domain.  Even Google can’t find it!
Casino.com – This domain was sold to Mansion Limited of Gibraltar in 2007 and deal was settled at a price of $ 5.5 million, however, this investment has given great ROI to the new owner.
Slots.com – This deal took place in 2010 and credited $ 5.5 million in previous owner’s account.  Bodog, a Russian online gaming site became the new owner and created new game on this domain.
Asseenontv.com – This domain was purchased by LA Group in 2000 for a price of $ 5.1 million.  This domain was used to protect brand name “asseenattv.com” of LA Group.  This is biggest domain deal made for defense purpose.
Toys.com – This domain made $ 5.1 million in 2009 for the previous owner.  This domain was sold to American market leader ToysRUs.
Korea.com – This is the second domain in our list which is named after a country.  Korea.com deal was done at price of $ 5 million in 2004.  New owner of this domain is Korea.com Communications.
SEO.com – This deal took place in 2007 and is considered to be a wiser one.  Michael Mann, owner of BuyDomains understood the importance of having a good domain name; therefore, he sold his company and invested in SEO.com.
Clothes.com – Zappos acquired clothes.com in 2008 with an amount of $4.9 million.  This domain is used to redirect online clothing line shop of zappos.com.
Icloud.com – Apple Inc purchased this domain at a price of $ 4.5 million in 2011.  Apple was hunting for all i-domains, around the world and acquired this domain after acquiring iphone.com, which was not as big a deal to mention in this list.
Now, if you ever think of making money via domain flipping and found an amazing domain name which is available, grab that name right away. You can later on sell those domains for higher price. Do remember, in 2014 many new TLD’s are launching (Many of them are already launched), and this is the right time to become a domainer and earn money.
At this time I have following two domain names which are available for sell:
  • Diamondsforwomen.com ( Price : $499) For selling Diamonds
  • Wpdraft.com ($49) For WordPress niche site

WPEngine Review : WordPress Engine You Should Never Drive

Wpengine Review
Having a good web-hosting is one of the things that is most crucial aspect of any growing or established blog. One of the most daunting tasks which you will face with your blog is picking up the right web hosting company.
There are many great options out there especially when you have a small and medium sized WordPress blog, you are good to go with budget hosting like Bluehost , but the task gets tedious when your WordPress blog starts growing exponentially, and you need more server resource to handle growing traffic.
In the past, I have tried various hosting companies like Linode, Knownhost and few others. Linode was unmanaged VPS and Knownhost was a managed VPS but due to complicated nature of my WordPress configuration ( 40+ plugins back in 2012), I decided to move away and find a solution which gives me complete peace of mind.
My goal with new hosting was to forget about hosting headache and just focus on what I’m good at i.e. blogging. That’s the time I got to know about managed WordPress hosting, and I stumbled upon WPEngine hosting. With all the features and complete hassle free hosting solution for WordPress, I ended up signing for them and started paying $250/month for their hosting.
You must be thinking why to pay that amount of money when I can get a dedicated server at the same price, and I won’t say you are wrong, but the thing is, I wanted complete peace of mind. I didn’t want to spend another one hour a day or even a week to tackle hosting issues, because one thing which I have learned so far is “Time is money“.

My Journey With WPEngine and What made me ditch them for good:

Finally after a lot of research and making my mind pay the hefty amount of $250/month to host ShoutMeLoud, I finally moved to WPEngine. I shared my experience of moving to WPEngine here. Undoubtedly the quality of hosting that they promised was up to the mark, and I had no problem with them until one day they mailed me and told me that I have to pay around $223 extra for overage charges. I was like WTF! is overage charges. That was the moment I was too busy with my personal work, and couldn’t take an action, and they deducted that amount from my credit card.
Their overage charges is a big hole in the pocket for any medium and large publishers like me and you who are on WPEngine or any such hosting which charges on/visit.  You should check out this post where I have mentioned in detail about what WPEngine overage charge is and why their pricing policy is so pointless. Here is how WPEngine counts visits:
WordPress Engine hosting Sucks
And these two extra points added more to my frustration:
  • We reset our notion of “unique IP address” every day.
  • Robots have the same few IP addresses, so they will be consolidated within one day, but will count again the next day.
Technically when you buy a Webhosting from any company, you usually take note of how many visitors they allow in their package. I opted for their business plan as it allows up to 400,000 visits/month, and my Google Analytics was showing only 356,000 visits/month. Here is WordPress Engine business plan offers:

Comparing Google analytics with WPEngine Stats:

Here I’m comparing stats shown by Google analytics for the period of 15th August-15th September 2014 and WPEngine for the same period. First look at Google Analytics stats:
Google Analytics August stats
And here is the stats from WPEngine for the same period. Do notice this message
“This shows how many visits you are receiving across pages, feeds and static assets (images, JavaScript files, CSS files, etc.). A visitor to your site may access one, two or all three types, but we will only count that as one visit in your overall visitor count. However the breakdown in this section will show you if you are receiving a disproportionate amount of access to your RSS Feeds, or to your images due to hot-linking or their embed in a 3rd party website or email campaign. WP Engine does not charge for visits that have only hit favicon.ico or robots.txt.”
Wpengine august overage
Do keep a note that I have implemented Cloudflare to ignore bad bots visits else my charges would be at least 1.5X of what you see here. Adding more to it, I was paying for hot linked images or images which were shared on Twitter, Email newsletter and any other places.
See below image, and this is what WPEngine team added for this ” Here is a list of your top static referrers. If a large %age of hits here are occurring from a domain that you do not control, your WP Engine visit count will be negatively impacted.”
Static referrers WPEngine
If you sum-up all the above points, you would notice that WPEngine is scamming their users for not being technically sound. WPEngine hosting is for people who don’t want to look into the tech side and just focus on their business or their blog, and these way of pricing is an overkill for a normal end user like me and you. They could have easily integrated Cloudflare at the top of their hosting or atleast out a measure to stop bad bots to lower down their customer money, but a money hungry company like them would never do that.
There is more to it:
When you are paying over $250/month to a web hosting company, you would like to have priority and premium support. Even a low budget hosting like Bluehost which costs only $6.95/month offers round the clock support over chat and phone. Whereas WPEngine doesn’t offer live chat support round the clock and I can’t call their support as top-notch quality. Matthew Woodward have shared his side of the story on this detailed post which is worth a read. Here is the summary of his WordPress engine review:
Matthew WordPress Engine review
No Root access/Disallowed plugins:
WPEngine doesn’t give you root access, and their list of disallowed plugin is baseless. A plugin like Broken link checker which indeed is one of the best plugin for WordPress blog to check broken link is not allowed, and despite creating an alternate solution to this plugin, they disallowed the plugin. They do have added alternative solutions like integrity and few others, but they all are desktop based solution and requires a lot of manual work to fix the links.

Conclusion of my WPEngine review:

When it comes to the quality of hosting, WPEngine is still a good hosting which can handle a memory hogging WordPress blog (Most of the time), but when it comes to pricing they are definitely not worth it. In 13 months I have paid $4621 for hosting ShoutMeLouod which is definitely not worth it. I could have done the same for as low as $1500 but call it my laziness or busy schedule, I ended up paying this much amount. Here is the screenshot of my paid invoice and do notice extra charges on March and April 2014:
My WPEngine INvoices
I would recommend WPEngine hosting to only small business blog which is created on WordPress and traffic requirement is not more than 25k Visits/month and make sure you use Cloudflare else you will be paying for overage charge, which is the the first thing that made me hate and quit WPEngine.
For medium and high traffic blog, you are better to stay away from WPEngine as it’s not worth your price and you should rather stick to other Webhosting company like Cloudways (Where ShoutMeLoud is hosted right now), Siteground or any other which doesn’t charge you based on visits and offer similar or better hosting configuration.
This is my personal review of WPEngine and I have shared everything which I have learned working with them for so long, and now it’s up to you to decide if you should host your WordPress blog on WordPress Engine or not. If you are a WPEngine customer and want to share your story and experience with them, I would love to hear it in comment section.

Specially, to boost your ranking in SERP’s you need to get quality links from other authority sites. We all know the importance of search engine traffic and that getting high quality backlinks to your blog is one of the best ways to improve your blogs rankings and get better search engine traffic and results, this post will be listing 101 ways by which you can get quality backlinks to your blog.
Get Quality BackLinks For Blog
Though before we move ahead, here are things that you need to keep in mind. In 2012, Google launched Penguin update, which is targeted to get rid of sites using spammy or paid ways to build links. Also, many ways which I mentioned in the article are not so good ways to get quality backlinks, so I will strikethrough such ways and you can ignore them.
Also, when you are building backlinks, you need to keep quality of links and anchor text variation in your mind. Also, instead of creating lots of backlinks to your homepage only, start working on building links to internal pages. You can start working on resource pages like “WordPress guide” and build links to them. This way, you can also target Single or double word Keywords easily.
Some of the link building methods, which you should ignore:
Before, I start with my 101 list, here are some of the link building methods that you should ignore:
  • Avoid site wide link from footer (WordPress themes or plugins)
  • Avoid buying exact anchor text link (Keep a proportion of 40%-20%–20%-10%-10% for anchor text variation)
  • Avoid buying bulk links from sites like Fiverr
  • Don’t opt for link networks (Build my rank was one of such private link network, which got penalized)
  • Avoid BlogRoll links
  • Article directory links are not that effective anymore
So, these are something which you should keep in mind when starting with quality backlink building campaign. Out of all the existing method, guest posting is the best way to get quality link and more over, it will help you to drive traffic to your web page.
